@Zanna... Banana leave tamales are not specfically Guatemalan....That style is common in the southern states of Mexico because it's a tropical climate the natives used those leaves.

You should try the Dominican/Puerto Rican pasteles. Similar to tamales and boiled in the plantain leaves. Yum!

Yum! I love tamales! I like the Guatemalan style. Those are steamed in banana leaves!
