If you’re not sure what eating Paleo is, not sure about how to eat this way, or if you should, let me introduce you to some of my favorite Paleo blogs. Eating Paleo is about embracing a gluten-free, grain-free, refined sugar-free, processed food-free, legume and bean-free, and dairy-free diet. Okay, so what can you eat exactly, you might ask? PLENTY! The Paleo Diet (the most modern version) is comprised of all fruits and vegetables, grass fed meats, wild fish, game meats, nuts, seeds, eggs, and unrefined sweeteners like honey and maple syrup. It isn’t necessarily vegan, but can be, and baking recipes often include almond flour or other nut flours, and coconut flour instead of grains. For anyone with digestive issues, food allergies, or just wanting to eat clean, it’s a diet that has been very effective, and is strongly linked to The GAPS Diet, a diet created to heal the digestive system. Most Paleo enthusiasts are also members of CrossFit, but the diet itself doesn’t mean you have to join the CrossFit “cult” to eat Paleo. Paleo is simply a primal diet, designed to help people eat the way our ancestors ate at the very beginning of time when humans foraged for the most nutritional foods found in nature. I admire several Paleo blogs out there, so I’ve chosen some of my favorites, though there are many more. If you want to learn how to eat clean, wholesome, and nourishing, check these out. Just be prepared. If you’re hungry now, just wait until you finish checking them out!

Elana’s Pantry

One of my personal favorite Paleo blogs of late is Elana’s Pantry. While she may not coin herself as a Paleo specifically, she does eat recipes that adhere to the Paleo diet. I personally love her blog because her photos are beautiful, and she’s also very down to earth. Her recipes are made of wholesome ingredients and are comprised of truly clean, nourishing foods. Elana also has her own book out, and would be such a helpful guide to helping anyone learn how to cook Paleo or simply grain-free and gluten-free. One of her latest recipes for Chocolate Pecan Pie just sounds perfect for the holidays, so be sure and check her out at elanaspantry.com.

The Spunky Coconut

I first found The Spunky Coconut about 4 years ago when I started baking with coconut flour. I loved Kelly Brozyna the moment I laid eyes on her blog. Kelly has published multiple books, all of which I own, and I adore her crisp, beautiful photos of clean, delicious food. Her Pumpkin Chili is one of my latest favorite recipes, and would be just perfect for these chilly nights we’re having lately! Her children were the reason she began experimenting with this type of nutritional lifestyle, as they had ADD, autism, and multiple food allergies. Since then, not only are her girls happy and healthy, but Kelly has also created an amazing blog and in the process. Check her out at thespunkycoconut.com.

Against All Grain

Danielle Walker from Against All Grain is another one of my absolute favorite bloggers. Though she eats Paleo, she has plenty of vegan recipes on her blog, and doesn’t just eat meat, like most people think Paleo eaters tend to do. Danielle’s baked goods are one of her best specialties, and her sandwich bread is one you should definitely check out if you’re looking for a grain-free sandwich bread that’s completely delicious and healthy. Danielle also has her own book, like most of these Paleo bloggers do. It's called Against All Grain, and it would make an excellent book to treat anyone with this holiday season. You can learn more about her at againstallgrain.com.

Everyday Paleo

Sarah Fragoso is the author of Everyday Paleo, and let me tell you, she knows her stuff! This blog is one of the most successful Paleo blogs out there, and is one of the simplest to navigate and learn about the Paleo lifestyle. Sarah has her own cookbooks for individuals, families, and more, making it easy for anyone to eat this way in their own kitchen. After hitting rock bottom with her health and being overweight, she found hope in the Paleo diet and never looked back. Her latest recipe for Caper Salmon Salad is a must-make, and she even has her own Paleo mayo recipe! Check her out here: everydaypaleo.com.

Nom Nom Paleo

Michelle Tam is author of Nom Nom Paleo, and I love that she loves food! She celebrates whole, clean foods that are embraced in the Paleo lifestyle, and makes them look delicious as a result. Her blog is simple to navigate, her recipes aren’t overcomplicated, and she’s a whiz at making easy food look decadent. She discovered the Paleo diet after her husband started seeing how effective it was several years ago, and she was at the time trying to lose weight. Tired of dieting and being underfed, Michelle tried the Paleo diet since her method wasn't working and loved it. She has been blogging since 2010 about her Paleo adventure, and feeling better than ever. I’m personally a fan of her Savory Coconut Pancakes, but I adore all her simple roasted vegetable recipes too. She has her own book coming out December of 2013 as well, and you can learn more about Michelle here: nomnompaleo.com.

PaleOMG

Juli Bauer, creator of PaleOMG, stole my heart the first time I read her blog. She’s just downright hilarious, and incredibly smart and witty. She’s honest about everything, and her food, well, it’s purely amazing. She doesn’t hide that she loves to eat, and eats liberally. The Paleo diet found her after she discovered gluten and grains were not her stomach’s best friend, and ever since she’s been creating amazing recipes, all comprised of wholesome ingredients. My favorite part about her? She’s not afraid to admit she loves good dark chocolate as a naughty treat here and there, and she’s a huge fan of eating enough to be full, and not a fan of dieting. Her Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins are a perfect example that this girl knows how to be healthy and eat delicious foods. She also has her own book out, which you can discover more about here: paleomg.com.

Paleo Veganista

For anyone that thinks you can’t be Paleo and be a vegan, let me introduce you to Kelsey, one of my personal favorite bloggers. Kelsey proves that just because a person doesn’t eat animal foods, they can still eat Paleo and be completely nourished at the same time. She is currently exploring both vegan and Paleo diets, and has some alterations, such as she eats organic tofu on occasion, and she doesn’t worry that it isn’t officially “Paleo” since she eats mostly a primal, vegan diet the rest of the time. Her Chia Almond Hemp Pancakes are the perfect example that you truly can eat wholesome foods, that happen to be animal friendly. I’m partial to this blog since I’m not really a meat eater myself. I always find inspiration behind Kelsey’s blog to eat more plant foods that don’t have to be unhealthy or unsatisfying. You can learn more about Kelsey here: paleoveganista.com.

If the Paleo lifestyle is something you’ve never considered, I think it’s worth anyone looking into, as I do with any clean, healthy lifestyle. I believe everyone benefits from different ways of eating, and overall, you should embrace what works for you! What are your thoughts on the Paleo diet?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Paleomg is my favorite! I've been on paleo for 2 years and I love it!

If I HAD to label my diet, I'd call it the 80% raw vegan diet, so I'm not paleo per se. But im kind of a paleo blog an forum creeper and I find that people who follow this diet usually have great knowledge to share that seems like it can apply to lots of people!

Do u think this would be a good diet for someone who has really terrible GERD?
