19 Steps on How to Make the Perfect Iced Coffee at Home ...

I have to admit that I'm quite the coffee junkie, but recently, I've cut back my trips to my local Dunkin' Donuts because I learned how to make my favorite iced coffee at home! All you need is a regular coffee brewer; no fancy equipment necessary! Making iced coffee at home turned out not only to be easy but super tasty too! I didn't think that making iced coffee at home would come out as good as if a barista made it, but I soon found out that because you know how you like your coffee, it's way easier to make it exactly how you like it!

1

Brew the Coffee

So, the first step in how to make iced coffee at home is, well, brew the coffee! It doesn't matter if you use decaf, regular or even flavored coffee. It doesn't matter what brand you use either; it's all up to your personal preferences! I used regular Dunkin' Donuts coffee beans and it came out just fine!

2

Chill It!

Let your coffee cool. Stick it in the refrigerator or leave it out on the counter for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Room temperature or chilled coffee is preferred. Or if you're short on time, move onto the next step!

3

Add the Ice!

Grab a tall glass and a long spoon for stirring. Then, fill the glass with ice. I usually prefer to fill up half my glass with ice, but it's all up to you! Instead of using regular ice cubes, you can freeze the coffee into cubes by pouring the liquid into an ice cube tray and letting it freeze overnight! Then, brew the coffee in the morning and add in the ice cubes for a less watered-down taste!

4

Add the Coffee!

For this step, all you have to do is pour your freshly brewed coffee into the glass. Make sure not to fill it up to the brim unless you prefer your coffee black. That's all there is to it!

5

Add in the Milk!

Now you can add in the rest! Whether you prefer milk, soy milk, half and half or even flavored coffee creamer, this is the time to pour it in! Use the spoon to mix it all up! When I first made iced coffee at home, I used half and half, but I'm really excited to try some french vanilla coffee creamer next time! Sounds delicious, right?

Add in the Extras!

This is the fun part now, ladies! It's time to add in the sweetener! Whether you choose a sugar substitute, regular sugar or even syrup, this is the time to go crazy! You can even be a little daring and add cinnamon, vanilla extract or another spice to your drink! Then, top with whipped cream! Yummy!

7

Stir It All up!

Stir all the ingredients together, pop in a straw if you'd like and enjoy! Now you have a simple and refreshing drink to enjoy this summer! If I had a pool, I'd totally be floating around on an inflatable chair sipping on this tasty treat!

Alternative Method #1

If you want your coffee to have less acidity, make sure that you brew it while it's cold. After, you can mix the water with the coffee, cover the pitcher for at least 12 hours, strain it, and finally serve it! It's just as easy as any other method, but takes quite a while.

9

Alternative Method #2

You don't have to brew the coffee while cold. You can do it while hot, but make sure you make it much stronger than you usually do, because the ice you'll be putting into it will dilute it. Now you can add sugar, let the coffee cool, and drink it up.

10

Alternative Method #3

Pour fresh coffee into a blender and add as much ice and milk as you desire. Blend it for about 10 seconds long. Now is the time to add any additional ingredients that you need. Then you should blend again until the mixture is smooth. Then sip it up!

11

Alternative Method #4

You don't have to use coffee beans if you don't want to. Instead, you can grab some instant coffee and dissolve it in water with some sugar. Now combine it with milk and crushed ice and you're all done after a little bit of shaking or stirring.

12

Enhancements

Your ice coffee doesn't always have to taste the same. You can drop in some fruit for a brand new flavor. If you're over 21, you could also add a tiny drop of vodka into it. You're sure to get the kick you need.

13

Ice Cubes

If you have any coffee left over when you're finished, pour it into an empty ice cube tray. That way, the next time you make the coffee, you can drop the cubes inside of it. Don't worry--it won't hurt the taste.

14

Filter Your Water

For some reason, filtered water works way better in coffee. If you want it to taste as best as it can, make sure that you don't use water that hasn't been filtered. The change in taste may be subtle, but it could ruin your coffee drinking experience.

15

Spices

You don't have to stick to the normal, boring ingredients that people typically use in coffee. You can jazz if up by using nutmeg, ginger, coconut or cinnamon. Starbucks does it, so it must be delicious.

16

Be Patient

The best tasting coffee takes a long time to make. If you want something truly delicious, you should try soaking your coffee beans in water and letting it sit overnight. By the time morning comes, you'll be thankful you thought ahead.

17

Not Too Fresh

You don't want your coffee beans to be too fresh. You should wait three to four days after roasting before brewing your coffee if you want it to taste its best. It's all a waiting game.

18

Warning

Never put a steaming hot cup of coffee into the refrigerator or freezer. You don't want the liquid to be exposed to two extremely different temperatures that quickly. If it is, your favorite mug just may crack into pieces.

19

Practice Makes Perfect

Remember that you probably won't make the perfect cup of coffee on your first attempt. If your first taste isn't good, try again tomorrow. Making delicious coffee, just like everything else, takes practice.

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I use cool coffee, 2 spoons of nesquik, and a tablespoon sugar and ice. Simple and delicious!

Or you can put coffee in ice trays to put right in regular coffee without watering it down.

Another tip for ya, if you are worried about your coffee tasting too watered down, add another scoop or half to your brew basket to make it a bit stronger.

This is easy!! I've done it... I put my coffee right in the freezer, 15-20 min, it's good. I add silk/vanilla/very vanilla, a little Splenda/sugar, whatever.... And stir in my chocolate syrup! Perfect every time :)

Even if it is common sense they're really good steps. And I tried it and I made a latte perfectly. It tasted so good.

^ I didn't write the above comment so I don't know why it's my icon! Haha

Liquid sugar or simple syrup is really easy to make for things like this. All it is is equal parts water and sugar heated until sugar dissolves, let cool and voila.
