9 Wonderful Health and Beauty Benefits of Eating Pomegranates ...

Pomegranates are one of my favorite fruits to enjoy in the winter, and there are so many benefits of eating pomegranates that most women don’t take advantage of enough, myself included. We always hear about other berries like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and even super berries like acai, goji, and maqui berries as being the best for us. But, what about the pomegranate? It’s actually one of the best tasting fruits to eat, and one of the best for you too. Typically, a pomegranate has well over 100 seeds in it, which are the edible portion of the fruit. The seeds are awesome in yogurt, salads, smoothies, in rice dishes, or quinoa, along with tasty all on their own. They’re gorgeous to use in your dish preparations as well, but they’re not all for looks. The many benefits of eating pomegranates make quite a list, so if you’re on the fence, consider the benefits below. Hopefully, you’ll pick up one or two at the supermarket next time you go shopping for some delicious produce!

1

Wrinkle-fighters

One of the best benefits of eating pomegranates is that they are anti-aging and help to fight wrinkles. Pomegranates are a wonderful source of polyphenols, which are a type of antioxidant that wards off wrinkles, fights aging, and makes the skin look more youthful.

2

Improved Testosterone

Did you know pomegranates can actually improve hormone levels, such as testosterone? They’re a natural source of libido-boosting nutrients, which also makes them a natural aphrodisiac. Most women don’t consider testosterone, since that’s typically known as the male hormone. Though this is true, women need testosterone for healthy hormone function. In fact, without enough, you’ll suffer low sex drive, faster weight gain, low energy, and a foul mood. Too much isn’t a good thing, but it’s nearly impossible to get an overdose from foods. Certain foods like pomegranates help to boost natural levels without going overboard. Eat a serving of seeds a couple of times a week to get the best benefits. No need to go nuts, but also no need to fear eating them for too much testosterone either.

3

Lowers Bad Cholesterol

Due to their high antioxidant content, specifically polyphenols, pomegranates naturally help to lower bad cholesterol associated with heart disease and high blood pressure. Eating fruits high in antioxidants like pomegranates is a great preventative health treatment, and one every woman should make a priority.

4

Anti-inflammatory

Pomegranates are one of the best fruits to beat inflammation and fight symptoms of arthritis. They’re extremely powerful as an anti-inflammatory aid by preventing the breakdown of cartilage. This doesn’t just make your joints feel great, but also prevents aging in a whole other way.

5

Low in Sugar

If you’re sensitive to foods high in sugar, including fruits, be sure to pick up a pomegranate as a safe choice that’s low in sugar and great for your blood sugar levels. They’re in the same family nutritionally speaking as berries, which are also low glycemic. They have roughly 8 grams of sugar per half cup, which makes them a great choice to use in a couple tablespoons here and there with hardly any sugar per serving.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Lower Blood Pressure

Pomegranates have been linked to studies that show them beneficial in lowering blood pressure in people who suffer chronic high blood pressure. This is in part due to their antioxidant content, as well as their effect on arterial walls when consumed as a whole seed, or in the form of a pomegranate juice beverage.

7

Cancer Prevention Promises

Though pomegranates aren’t a direct cure to cancer, they have been found to help stop the growth of cancer cells when consumed regularly. I’m a firm believer that food can be medicine, so if you’re concerned with cancer growth or risks, eat plenty of vegetables and fruits like pomegranates to fight it off the natural way. Though it isn’t a surefire method, it’s a great way to stay healthy and at least give it a shot.

8

Better Brain Cognition

Pomegranates are so high in polyphenols that they have consistently been linked to better brain cognition and memory, especially people with Alzheimer’s Disease. The seeds are rich in brain-boosting antioxidants that improve neurological function and cognitive abilities.

9

Serotonin Boosting

Pomegranates have been linked to significant improvements in serotonin levels in multiple studies. These studies show that pomegranate seeds immediately improve mood and a sense of well being, and when consistently consumed can be as beneficial as anti-depressant medication when combined with a well rounded diet and exercise.

Pomegranates are one of the most beautiful foods to add to your meals that really brighten them up, and make them more enjoyable to eat. As you can see, they’re also fantastic for you! One seeds lends well over 10-12 servings of a couple tablespoons per serving, making them well worth the few dollars you’ll pay for one fruit. Do you eat pomegranates and if so, what’s your favorite way to enjoy them?
