The Best Places to Eat Vegan in New Jersey ...
By Monique

I'm wondering what are the best places to eat vegan in New Jersey. I sit in my little office corner at work. It is 4:16pm exactly. And of course, I have nothing but food on my mind. I ordered Indian food for lunch and am trying to decide if I want to eat my leftover channa masala for dinner or save it for lunch tomorrow. You’re probably wondering why this is even an issue. Well, here in central NJ, there aren’t a lot of vegan places around the corner for me to order from!

The one thing I realized about living where I live, is that there aren’t many vegan friendly options, so I either have to be that person with the complicated order or I don’t go. I’m also gluten free (by choice) and well, let’s just say I’m complicated! Gluten free is something I now know is even harder to find when partnered with a vegan lifestyle. And I know what you’re thinking, “girl just eat a salad.” I do. But, not every person that is vegan wants to just settle for a salad. When I’m not meal prepping (or working), I’m doing research. Being vegan is a thing. And there are people all over that have participated in this thing for years. I attended a vegan convention a few weeks ago in Asbury, which was great! So, there are places to go and things to eat, they are just a little ways away.

Here are the best places to eat vegan in New Jersey! Enjoy!

Very good food! Went on a Saturday night when they opened and it was pretty busy. BYOB!

4. Properly Fueled

Just opened in May of 2017. Fairly new. Great for quick bites!

As part of taking control over your health and wellbeing, it's important to pay attention to the amount of sugar you consume daily. Did you ever wonder how many grams of sugar are in a teaspoon? Understanding this can help you make healthier choices and avoid those sneaky sugars that add up throughout the day. No doubt, your body will thank you!

I've never been here, but from what I hear, even non-vegans will love the menu from cover to cover!

7. Kaya’s Kitchen

1000 Main St, Belmar, NJ 07719
Another BYOB restaurant but this one has a smoothie bar that's as delicious as the menu choices and live music.

8. Killer Vegan

996 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, NJ 07083
Great prices, great food, and even better desserts. Others rave and I can't wait to try it.

9. Wildflower Vegan Cafe

501 N High Street, Millville, NJ 08332 (1 hour 16 min/ 70 miles)
A small menu but not short on flavor. This is on my must try list!

10. Loving Hut

538 NJ-10, Ledgewood, NJ 07852
Located in 13 other states, this restaurant is a hit among its patrons wherever it's at.

11. Veggie Heaven

473 Cedar Lane, Teaneck, NJ 07666
Tea, juices and smoothies, bubble tea, delicious food, this place has it all - along with an extensive gluten free menu. Everyone will find something to enjoy here.

So as you can see from my very short list, slim pickings. The nice thing about my area is the farms! Lot’s of farms = lots of local produce. There are several farmers markets in the area. And they’re “Pick Your Owns,” which make for a nice day out! Terhune Orchards is the local PYO that everyone in the area goes to! Of course, we also have Whole Foods, Trader Joes and other local grocery stories that have all of the things I need. But, sometimes people don’t have time and need a place to quickly grab a bite.
