7 Fantastic Flavored Water Recipes You Can Try ...

I love flavored water recipes that allow me to add a slight natural sweetness and taste. I don’t know about you, but I have an extremely hard time trying to drink eight 8 oz glasses of water every day. I’ve never been the biggest fan of plain water, so I started flavoring my water using fruit, and occasionally, herbs. These yummy flavored water recipes are some of my favorites and I wanted to pass them along to you so you can boost your water intake in a healthy and tasty way! It’s best to make these waters in a large mason jar because they have a lid and refrigerate nicely.

Pineapple Coconut

Pineapple Coconut This is one of my favorite flavored water recipes because it gives you the slight flavor of a pina colada! The tropical scent that wafts off of this makes me long to be on the beach. It definitely doesn’t have as much flavor as a real pina colada, but when you’re cutting the calories and fat out of your diet and trying to drink the right amount of water, this is a pretty decent replacement. Place a few slices of pineapple in the bottom of your jar and use a muddler or other tool to smash it. Add a few tablespoons of coconut milk, then fill the rest of the jar with water. Screw on the lid and shake the jar to distribute the flavors. Allow them to sit in the fridge for a few hours, then strain the fruit out if you’d like or you can leave it in, like I do.

2

Strawberry Kiwi

Strawberry Kiwi I like my strawberry kiwi water heavy on the strawberries, but you can alter my recipe to your taste preferences. I’ve always found the combination of strawberries and kiwi to be a wonderfully satisfying taste. In your jar, place 6 strawberries and 4 slices of kiwi. Use your muddler to mash them together, then fill the remainder of the jar with water. Give it a quick shake and pop it in the refrigerator for a few hours. This one I usually strain because I don’t like the tiny seeds from the fruit getting stuck in my teeth.

3

Raspberry Lime

Raspberry Lime I love love love lime! The addition of raspberries makes this one absolutely perfect. This one definitely needs to be strained, at least for me. I love raspberries but I could do without their itty bitty seeds. Muddle a good handful of berries in the bottom of your jar and fill it with water. I usually use an entire lime, sliced up, if not more. Gently squeeze each slice so the juices start to seep out and drop them into the water. By now you know you need to cap it, shake it and refrigerate it before you strain it and drink it.

4

Citrus Water

Citrus Water This one is brilliant for a hot summer day. The citrus flavors are just so refreshing and light and I’m really big on sour, tart flavors. This is actually the first flavor I ever made and I probably make it the most often now just because citrus fruits are fairly inexpensive and easy to come by. Slice 1 lemon, 1 lime and 1 orange and squeeze the juice into the jar before tossing them in. Fill with water and pop in the fridge. This one I never strain, but of course you can if you’d like.

5

Cucumber Melon

Cucumber Melon You can use honey dew or cantaloupe melon (or heck, both if you want!) for this recipe. I usually use cantaloupe just because I personally like it better. I’m a pretty big fan of just plain cucumber water as well. A lot of spas serve cucumber water to their clients and I have to say, I thought it was weird at first but I’ve been drinking it for years now and I love it. Cut your melon(s) of choice into chunks and slice your cucumber. Place enough melon in your jar to fill it about halfway. Both the melon and cucumber are very watery, so you need more of them than usual to get the taste you’ll want. Muddle the melon slightly, then add about half the cucumber. You don’t need to mash the cucumber, it releases its flavor pretty well on its own.

Lemon Mint

Lemon Mint I know, it sounded strange to me at first too. It’s actually incredibly good and I love how fast it wakes me up in the morning. It’s a very refreshing and energizing taste. I was really skeptical, especially since I don’t particularly like mint, but the tastiness of this combination surprised me! Toss a sprig of mint into your jar and use your muddler to bruise the leaves without tearing them apart. Take two lemons, cut them in half and squeeze some of the juice into the jar before tossing them in as well. Of all of these recipes, this is the one that doesn’t really need to be refrigerated before drinking because the flavors from the lemon and the mint mingle together pretty fast.

7

Blackberry Sage

Blackberry Sage It’s probably strange that I like to drink certain flavors at particular times, but this one is my go-to flavor when I’m setting in to go to bed. It may just be me, but I find the flavor blend comforting. Let me know what you think! Bruise 2 sage leaves in the bottom of your jar and add approximately a half jar of blackberries on top. Muddle them, then fill the jar with water and pop it into the fridge. This is another really interesting combination that surprised me, I hope you’ll give it a try.

If you don’t have huge mason jars you can always use pitchers or some other container, but keep in mind that some of the fruits stain, so try to use glass instead of plastic. The mishmash of fruit (and occasionally herbs) really adds that subtle taste to water that makes me look forward to drinking it instead of trying to force 8 glasses of it down my own throat every day. I need flavor! Which of these flavors are you most likely to try?
