Wondering how to make salad in a jar?
Are you picky about your salads? Well, consider this like a salad bar frenzy, picking and choosing what YOU want in your own jars when it is convenient for YOU.
Here's how to make salad in a jar.
1. Prep Your Ingredients
Your first step in how to make salad in a jar is to decide what you want in your salad. If you prep everything at once, you can make several jar salads at once, saving you time later in the week. Some good choices include chopped greens such as romaine, spinach, arugula, or butter lettuce. Other great inclusions include, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn and bell peppers. You might also like carrots, peas, avocado or onions in your salad too.
2. Add Protein
There are lots of ways to add protein to your salad and most of them can be enjoyed warm or cold, which is perfect if you plan to make a bunch of salads in a jar at one time. Try ground beef or turkey, roasted chicken, tuna, shrimp, fish or beans.
3. Optional Toppings
The options for a salad are virtually limitless, so add what you love best. Good choices include cheese, fruit, croutons, seeds and seasonings like salt and pepper.
4. Toss with the Salad Dressing of Your Choice
Now toss the dressing with your salad and you're all set. If you don't plan to eat your salad for a few days, put the dressing at the bottom of the jar, then layer in your ingredients. When it's time to eat, simply shake the jar and chow down.
Hopefully you will commit to having at least 1 salad a day. Make them ahead on Sunday and just pull the jar out of the fridge when you need it. Easy!
