My stand by is olive oil, salt and crushed red pepper flakes, but there are so many other ways to season roasted chicken, and I’ll share some of them with you here.

Brown Sugar and Garlic

Brown Sugar and Garlic It sounds strange and I was skeptical the first time I tried it, but brown sugar and garlic pair really well together and leave roasted chicken moist and delicious. Heat a bit of olive oil in a skillet and lightly sauté a few cloves of diced garlic. Turn off the heat and add a spoonful or two of light brown sugar. Stir to combine. The sugar will dissolve and leave you with a runny, but sticky sauce. Pour it over the chicken before turning on your slow cooker and wait for one of the best ways to season roasted chicken you’ll ever try.

2

Garlic and Herbs

Garlic and Herbs This variation is superb because you can mix and match your favorite herbs to create something you’ll be proud to serve. Start by chopping your herbs of choice. Thyme, rosemary, dill, basil, parsley and oregano work well. Mix the herbs into softened butter and stir in some minced garlic. Use a rubber spatula to spread the mixture over the surface of your chicken, before cooking.

3

Citrus and Sage

Citrus and Sage Combining citrus and sage on your roasted chicken gives you a unique flavor combination that you may not have tried. It’s great for the fall! Simply squeeze the juice of several oranges over your chicken, then sprinkle it with dried sage. Turn on the slow cooker and do something fun while you wait for dinner.

4

Italian Flavored

Italian Flavored This is a delicious way to flavor your chicken, but leave it tasting reminiscent of your favorite Italian dinner too. Put your chicken in the slow cooker then press a package of Italian sausage into it. Make sure it’s mashed down pretty good. Pour a can of tomato sauce over the top and sprinkle on some Italian seasoning. This variation tastes great with a baked potato or a serving of pasta.

5

Lemon and Garlic

Lemon and Garlic You can’t go wrong with a simple combination of lemon and garlic on roasted chicken. Simply squeeze the juice of a couple lemons over the chicken. Then sprinkle on a few cloves of diced garlic. Lay a couple of slices of lemon on top of the chicken and cook away!

I usually shred the leftovers and make chicken tacos with them another night. Sprinkle the chicken with cumin, shredded cilantro, pickled jalapenos, lime juice, onion powder and garlic salt. Try spreading garlic boursin over the chicken and wrapping it in bacon with a side of pasta

No one in Italy would ever even dare to cook a chicken like this, so please, don't call it an "italian dinner" because it's absolutely an american invention.
