Superfoods seem to have this magical mystery to them, especially superfoods that make you happy due to their unique nutritional qualities. These superfoods possess special powers that can possibly transform your mood like you never imagined. If your mood has taken a nosedive lately, add a few of these superfoods that make you happy to your diet this week. They’re easy enough to add to a morning smoothie, some oatmeal, or stirred into some yogurt. How much easier or delicious could it be to add a little pep in your step?

Amino acids and B vitamins both help to improve cognitive thinking and mental focus. They also reduce anxiety and ward off depression.

This popular superfood has been well-known for its high omega 3 content for many years now. Acai berries contain more omega 3s than salmon and are one of the best berries to eat for your heart. They’re also rich in B vitamins for your brain and low in sugar so they won’t spike your blood sugar.
3. Camu Camu

Chocolate is a well-known food for boosting endorphins, improving mood, and reducing stress. Cacao is the raw form of chocolate and much higher in magnesium than processed dark chocolate. Magnesium reduces stress, prevents depression, wards off headaches, and even treats PMS symptoms.
Coconut’s healthy fats can be thanked for its place on this mood-boosting list of superfoods. Though the fats in coconut are saturated they haven’t been found to raise cholesterol or contribute to heart disease. Coconut’s fat help boost your mood, reduce stress, and best of all, they keep your blood sugar stable to prevent hypoglycemia.
Maca is my favorite superfood for reducing anxiety. It’s especially great for women during their menstrual cycle but can improve the mood of both men and women. It’s also well-known to enhance the libido and increase energy. The best part about maca is it is an adaptogen so it adjusts to your body’s needs whether you are stressed and need to relax, or if you’re tired and need energy.
