Often, you will hear about superfoods like acai and camu camu that come from South America, but there are superfoods you can get at the farmer’s market. Superfoods are foods that have high levels of nutrients and phytochemicals. While the superfood powders that you can buy have great nutritional value, wouldn’t you rather support your local farmers and purchase a superfood that is grown locally? With all of the superfoods you can get at the farmer’s market it is possible. Forgo the powders and load up on lots of nutritious local food!

1. Asparagus

Eating plums can help prevent osteoporosis, and they can increase your body’s ability to absorb iron. Including plums in your diet is not only a great way to get many nutrients, it is also a great way to include a yummy summer fruit in your meals.

7. Romaine Lettuce

Because of all of these nutrients, romaine lettuce can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and it can even help your muscles grow stronger!
