Cutting artichokes was something that always flummoxed me, but as soon as I saw a YouTube video explaining how to cut them, I felt much more comfortable to try. In any endeavour, practice will help you improve your skills, and the more you practice cooking, the better you will be. Find a few recipes that you really like, and practice making them over and over again. This will allow you to perfect a few recipes, and it will help you feel more comfortable in the kitchen.

If your Grandma happens to be a good cook, ask her if you can help her in the kitchen. When my grandma was alive I always cooked with her, and I learned so much. She taught me how to separate eggs and how to make great cakes. She taught me with so much patience and love, which made the process very enjoyable and memorable.
7. Ask for Cooking Equipment for Gifts
The right cooking equipment really can make all the difference in how a recipe turns out. If you have an old pan that always burns everything, getting a new pan will really help. Personally, I asked for a zester last Christmas because I found that a grater really doesn’t work all that well for zesting lemons. Whatever cooking equipment you need, you may want to consider asking for it for your next gift.
