You don’t need me to tell you that nuts are one of the best and most beneficial snacks that you could possibly hope to have as an addition to your diet. We get told time and time again that nuts and seeds and things of that nature make for the most positive snacking items, but when there are so many to choose from, how do you know where to start? Let me help you out a little! Here's the answer to the question of which are the healthiest nuts?

Walnuts

Walnut, Nut, Natural foods, Nuts & seeds, Food, Walnuts look a tiny bit like brains, and they also happen to be good at protecting your brains too! Recent studies have shown that eating walnuts regularly can lower your risk of depression by as much as 26 percent. Not to mention the fact that they are a super nutritious snack that with a unique flavour that goes well with things like fresh berries and coconut flakes!

They are among the lowest in calories and highest in fibre of all the nuts, not to mention their high levels of antioxidants that can help to keep your skin, heart and eyes nice and healthy.

Food, Cuisine, Plant, Seed, Ingredient, You might see them on top of unhealthy sugary pie desserts a lot, but on their own they can be a very healthy snack option. They are very low in carbs compared to some other nuts, and they also happen to be one of the best natural sources of something called beta-sitosterol which helps to lower your body’s cholesterol.

Almonds

They are rich in vitamin E and zinc and act as a potent antioxidant that can actually be helpful for things like fertility in both men and women; something to bear in mind if you are looking to start a family anytime soon!

Peanuts

Peanuts are a great little package of fibre, fat and protein, giving you much more healthy nutrition than they might have you believe. They serve a whopping seven grams of protein per ounce, and contain plant sterols which can help to block bad cholesterol.
