When you’re suffering from the summer heat, you’ll be happy to have a bunch of different ways to prepare watermelon. The juicy treat is perfect for a hot day and tastes delicious. But if you’re bored of eating the same thing in the same way every single day, try these new ways to prepare watermelon. These recipes will keep your mouth watering and taste buds happy.
One of the ways to prepare watermelon is to turn it into a drink. First, chop up some watermelon and put it in the freezer for a few hours. Once it’s properly frozen, throw it in a blender with tequila or use juice as a substitute. Add ¼ lime juice, ¼ cup sugar, and mix it all up. Just like that, you’ll have a delicious drink that’ll cool you off.
2. Ice Pops
In the mood for a frozen treat? Cut up some seedless watermelon for your blender and add in some ice and salt. Keep blending until everything turns into liquid. When it’s ready, transfer the juice into molds or plastic cups. Put a stick into each container and let it freeze until it’s solid. Once it’s ready, you have a cold snack that tastes like watermelon.
This one is a fresh twist on original salsa. Chop up some more of that seedless watermelon. Crush 1 cup of pineapple and mix it with 1 cup of minced sweet onion, ¼ cup cilantro, ¼ cup orange juice, and ¼ teaspoon of hot sauce. Stir everything together and refrigerate. It’s that easy!
4. Fruit Bowl
Why settle for just one fruit when there are so many yummy ones out there? Use a knife to cut off a quarter section of a full watermelon. Grab a melon baller and remove everything except a half inch of flesh inside of the watermelon. Now put some cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, or whatever other fruit you love into the center of the watermelon. You can even carve the side of the fruit into a decorative shape if you want it to look extra fancy.
5. Tomato Salad
If you want to try a new type of salad, why not try out this recipe? Cut up watermelon and place the pieces in a bowl with a diced tomato, sweet onion, and green onion. Get a separate bowl and add ¼ cup balsamic vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1 gram of sweetener until the sweetener is fully dissolved. Pour the dressing over the salad and add as much salt and pepper as you’d like. Refrigerate and then serve.
This one’s for the adventurous. Stir some sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl. Then spread peanut butter onto two slices of bread. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the peanut butter. Now just places slice of watermelon in between and give it a taste.
Boil 1 cup of sugar, ½ cup corn syrup, and 4 tablespoons of lemon juice in a small saucepan. Once it cools a bit, cut the watermelon into chunks. Puree half of the watermelon pieces in a blender and then strain the liquid into a large bowl. Repeat the process with the remaining watermelon. Add the mixture you made earlier and put it into a plastic container. Freeze for three or four hours and then enjoy!
I hope you gobble up these tasty treats. Do you love watermelon as much as I do? Do you think you’ll try any of these recipes?
