Red Peppers

Their bright color is sourced from the fact that they contain nine times the amount of carotene and twice the amount of vitamin C than in green peppers. Plus, I think they’re tastier. They contain folate, which is a great anti-aging detox, and vitamin A which helps to prevent harmful UV rays from damaging your skin. It’s also packed with antioxidants to keep your body healthy.

Brown Rice

Richer in flavor and texture, brown rice is richer in vitamin B1 than white rice. This vitamin regulates healthy circulation which helps against wrinkling and loss of elasticity in the skin. Because it has not been stripped from its husk it is filled with more fiber than other types of rice, making it a great natural detox food.

Guess what magic these little fruits can do? Prevent cellulite! How good is that? Berries boost circulation, blood and lymph flow which all prevent the puckering or dimpling that happens in certain areas on the body. The antioxidants in berries plump out your skin cells and helps prevent that unsightly cellulite that makes skin look tired and aged.

Leafy Greens

These vegetables are filled with the anti-aging detoxifying coenzyme Q10. You may have heard of this antioxidant in anti-aging moisturizers, whose price tags are through the roof. However, leafy greens such as kale, broccoli or spinach are much, much cheaper and contain Q10 which aids cell growth and maintenance. Consuming Q10 is essential as we age because our bodies stop producing it as much as we age.

This is a pseudocereal that has a flavor and texture similar to rice or couscous. It is a bit expensive compared to other grains, but is super food that is rich in protein and a great anti-aging detox food.

Lean Protein

If you don’t already, replace all of your meat purchases with lean mean. Lean meat contains less saturated fat than regular meat and this saves your body from having to digest and process excess harmful fats. Lean protein includes oily fish, chicken and turkey which all help cellular repair. Oily fish in particular helps to boost collagen and is full of omega-3 – a protein rich in health!

This interestingly inhibits bacteria growth and helps to boost your brain, as well as naturally reducing cholesterol, glucose and triglyceride levels. It helps you to stay looking young as it reduces cell damage.

Mediterranean Herbs

These include oregano, basil, parsley and rosemary. Oregano in particular contains up to 20 times more antioxidant potency than most herbs.

Eggs are also a good natural anti-aging detox food as they naturally contain complete protein. They also help the vitality of your eyes as they contain vitamins B12, A, K, D and lutein.

Cashews and Walnuts

These nuts are useful sources of copper which, interestingly if taken in low levels, can help reduce premature grey hairs. This is because copper helps the production of melanin which gives hair its color.

These foods for an anti-aging detox should boost your immune system and maintain its health, keep you regular and significantly reduce your chances of infection. Aged looking skin comes from your skin trying to detox your body – which in turn causes spots, bags under the eyelids and wrinkles. Help your body out with these 10 Best Foods for an Anti-aging Detox – looking younger couldn’t be easier! How many of these foods do you regularly eat already?

very good, thanks

Hey Megan,What you're doing with clean eating is sothmeing that I've thought about for a while now, but haven't been able to commit to yet. The one week detox sounds like a good way to start, to get myself headed in the right direction and to get my eating habits more in line with the way I want to live my life (if that makes sense I feel like some of the junk I eat doesn't reflect the way I want to live a non-junky life). Anyway, I'm traveling over the next several weeks, so I decided this isn't the best time for me to try sothmeing new, but I am following your journey and hope to be making similar changes in the next couple of months. Thanks for your transparency and for challenging me! I hope this week goes really well for you and that you see how worth it it is to make this effort!- Rebecca
