Healthy Benefits of Broccoli That Makes It Shine as Veggie ...
By Neecey

I know there are many healthy benefits of broccoli but… I love all vegetables but will freely admit that I’m pretty much with George Bush on the subject of broccoli. I will eat it at a real push because I know that it is good for me. Trouble is the way I most like to eat it is with cauliflower in cheese sauce! Not so healthy then. If you love it, I’ll help you love it more by telling you the healthy benefits of broccoli. If you don’t like it, maybe these points will change your mind.

1. Prevents Cancer

Eating broccoli may help prevent several degenerative disorders, including heart disease and cancer. It contains a chemical, sulforaphane, which can stimulate the production of anti-cancer enzymes. These enzymes detoxify carcinogens and help expel them from your body. Eat broccoli and you may even slash your risk of everything from lung and breast cancer to colon and stomach cancer by half. Isn't it one of the best benefits of broccoli?

2. Strengthens Your Bones

Did you know broccoli works amazingly well to strengthen your bones? It is a remarkable non-dairy source of potassium and calcium, and is great for your bones. Eating broccoli will lower risk of fractures and even help prevent osteoporosis.

3. Boosts Brain Power

As every serving of broccoli contains vitamin K, it may help improve cognitive function and boost your memory as well. It protects your brain cells from the damaging effects of free radicals and improves mental stamina. It may prove beneficial if you're fighting with mental exhaustion and depression. Thanks to the presence of choline, broccoli promotes the growth of new brain cells and strengthens neural connections. Don't forget to eat broccoli and you will never forget anything again!

4. Protects Your Eyes

One of many benefits of broccoli is that it protects your eyes. Broccoli contains beta-carotene and Vitamin C. These nutrients reduce the risk of cataracts. It is mainly because broccoli is a rich source of vitamin A, which aids your body to form retinal, the light-absorbing molecule essential for color and low-light vision.

As part of taking control over your health and wellbeing, it's important to pay attention to the amount of sugar you consume daily. Did you ever wonder how many grams of sugar are in a teaspoon? Understanding this can help you make healthier choices and avoid those sneaky sugars that add up throughout the day. No doubt, your body will thank you!

5. Regulates Blood Pressure

Broccoli contains sulforaphane that promotes DNA methylation, which in turn improves cellular function and maintains proper gene expression. Moreover, the magnesium, potassium, and calcium present in broccoli help regulate your blood pressure.

6. Improves Heart Health

Certain chemicals in broccoli improve your natural defense mechanism that helps keep arteries unclogged, reducing the overall risk of heart attacks. Some experts believe that the regular consumption of broccoli may even help reverse the damage to heart blood vessels. So, add it to your diet and enjoy several cardiovascular benefits of broccoli!

7. Makes Your Hair Healthy

No longer do you need to try a hair care product with mysterious ingredients to have healthy hair! Try broccoli. It contains vitamins like A, C, and B6 that nourish your hair and make it strong and smooth. These vitamins also stimulate the production of an oily substance called sebum that works as a natural conditioner and moisturizer for your hair. The calcium found in broccoli will also help strengthen the hair follicles. So, be sure to go natural; be sure to eat broccoli.

8. Helps You Look Young

Don't want to spend money on taking Botox injections or using other cosmetic surgery options? Let broccoli tackle it all! This wonder veggie contains the antioxidant vitamin C that eliminates free radicals and slows down the aging process. It means you can add broccoli to your diet and prevent issues like wrinkles, fine lines, and spots in the most inexpensive way. You will also notice natural glow on your face, all thanks to vitamin E, B-complex, and beta-carotene found in broccoli.

9. Helps with Weight Loss

One of the very best benefits of broccoli is that it can aid weight loss. This low-calorie, low-fat vegetable gives you a feeling of being full and helps keep hunger pangs at bay. It contains water, fiber, and minerals like magnesium, potassium, and manganese that keep your immune system active, your weight low, and your body healthy.

OK, so I’m swayed a little more in its favor. Are you convinced to eat more broccoli? I might have to try steaming it and lay off the cheese sauce! What’s your favorite way of eating broccoli?
