Although I have been eating Italian sandwiches since I was a kid, there are some of you who may have never tasted one. This one is for you!
My version of a good Italian sandwich is just a little different...
First of all, you need a good loaf of Italian bread. Where I was raised, if you wanted one, you drove into the nearest city. The most well-known Italian breads were "DiCarlos" or "Cellones".
Then, you need salami and pepperoni.
Next, mozzarella cheese.
Further, bell peppers and tomatoes, especially from your family's own garden, which I had the luxury of, with thanks to the men of my family.
Finally, salt and pepper.
Voila!
