7 Delicious and Detoxifying Green Drinks to Help Clear Your Skin ...

By Chloe

There are many benefits to starting your day with detoxifying green drinks. Some include clearer skin, deeper sleep, less stress, increased energy, better digestion, and improved circulation. This is because you’re putting cleansing greens into your body that are easy on the digestive system. The easier your food is to digest, the more energy your body can use towards getting harmful toxins out of your body because it isn’t using that energy for digestion. That means your body will have time to fight the cause of your blemished skin, and the toxins causing it will be flushed out. These detoxifying green drinks are so delicious that you will certainly enjoy doing your body a favor!

1 Stomach Cleanser Green Smoothie

Stomach Cleanser Green Smoothie Out of all the detoxifying green drinks I’m going to show you, this is the strongest smoothie. If you aren’t used to detox drinks at all, I probably wouldn’t start with this one. Mint is a powerful blood detoxifier and reduces bloating. Lemon detoxes the blood as well, but it also flushes toxins from the liver and kidneys and aids in digestion. The taste of refreshing mint pairs nicely with the lemon in this smoothie, creating a light and delicious green-colored drink.

3 cups water
Juice of 1 lemon
1 inch piece of ginger
4 inch piece of cucumber
¼ cup mint
1-2 handfuls ice

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

2 Cheery Cherry Detox Smoothie

Cheery Cherry Detox Smoothie This green drink looks red because of the cherries, but actually contains kale. Kale is a dark leafy green and is very detoxifying to the body. It contains sulfur for liver detox, vitamin c for hydrating and replenishing, and fiber for detoxifying your digestive system. There is lemon juice in this smoothie like the last one, but this one also has the anti-inflammatory benefits of cherries. Cherries are loaded with cancer-fighting antioxidants to help you stay healthy. Chia seeds are also major detoxifiers, binding to excess water and flushing toxins that are in it.

1 cup frozen cherries
2-4 kale cubes or a handful of fresh kale
1 cup non-dairy milk (I use SoDelicious® Coconut Milk Beverage)
2 cups water
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 teaspoon gluten-free vanilla extract
Liquid vanilla stevia to taste
(Optional) 1 pack Emergen-C Kidz Fruit Punch (if tolerated)

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

3 Pineapple Ginger Green Detox Smoothie

Pineapple Ginger Green Detox Smoothie The frozen pineapple in this green smoothie makes it taste icy and delicious. It makes the perfect summer detox breakfast if you ask me. Not only is it delicious, but it also detoxes your body, improves digestion, is anti-inflammatory, and increases circulation. The baby spinach boosts immunity, is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, live enzymes, and is also anti-inflammatory. Fresh ginger gives this smoothie zing with the added benefits of reduced inflammation, boosting metabolism and immunity, and blood cleansing.

3 cups frozen diced pineapple
3 cups fresh baby spinach
1 cup frozen diced banana
1 celery rib (optional)
1 Tbsp. grated fresh ginger (start with less and add more if desired)
1 Tbsp. chia seeds
juice from half a lime

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

4 Orange Detox Drink

Orange Detox Drink I absolutely love the taste of orange in smoothies. You will have no idea that you are drinking a healthy detox drink when you are consuming this thing. What’s even better is that you won’t be able to tell it is green because of the single (yet powerful!) green leaf added. I’ve already stated the benefits of fresh ginger, mint, chia seeds, and kale. Did you know that oranges also have detoxifying benefits? It’s true, they contain strong antioxidants (vitamin c) to help flush toxins and boost your immunity. Oranges are also rich in fiber to help better your digestion.

1/2 Banana
1 Orange – Peeled
1 inch Fresh Ginger
1/2 Lime
1 Radish (my first home grown crop of the season)
1 Tbs Chia Seeds
1 Green leaf (Cabbage, Kale, bok choy, Beet leaf)
(Handful Mint Leaves and Stevia to sweeten – Optional)
1/2 to 1 Cup of Spring Water - more or less depending on how thick you like it

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

5 Strawberry Detox Green Monster Smoothie

Strawberry Detox Green Monster Smoothie The frozen strawberries make this a cool and fresh summer breakfast. However, they contain some surprising detoxifying compounds that make this green smoothie extra healthy. Strawberries are packed with vitamin c, which will help you detox and clear your skin. Vitamin c has actually been shown to be anti-aging too! So not only will this drink clear your skin, but it will also help protect it for later. Cucumbers also flush toxins from your body and clear your skin.

3/4 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup cucumber, peeled and sliced
1 large frozen banana, broken into pieces
1 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk (or alternate milk)
1 1/2 cups kale, loosely packed, stems removed (you can also use spinach)
Large handful of spinach

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

6 Detox Blueberry Monster Smoothie

Detox Blueberry Monster Smoothie Don’t let the short ingredients list or non-green color of this smoothie fool you – it is actually a nutrient-dense powerhouse! I’ve already discussed how beneficial baby spinach is, but mango and blueberries are fabulous as well. Mango contains many live digestive enzymes, detoxifying vitamin c, and antioxidants. Actually, a mango contains so many enzymes that if you leave slices on your face and wash it off with warm water it helps prevent acne! Blueberries contain an abundant amount of cancer-fighting antioxidants that help with anti-aging and skin.

1 banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup frozen mango
big handful of spinach
1/2 cup fat free lactaid (or almond milk)

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

7 Basic Kale Detox Juice

Basic Kale Detox Juice Even though the first smoothie was a powerful detoxifier, a green juice will beat out a smoothie anytime. That is because the nutrients are so condensed and you don’t have any fiber so it’s easy to digest. Like I said before, if it’s easy to digest your body can then use its energy to remove toxins from your body and clear your skin. However, easy to digest isn’t the only key component. Let’s look at white rice, because it is easy to digest. Yet, this doesn’t detoxify your body because it isn’t abundant in raw enzymes and nutrients. That is why high nutrient content is also important, and this green juice definitely does the trick!

5 stalks of Kale or Spinach
3 Apples
1 Lemon
1 Cucumber

Directions: Juice the ingredients in a juicer. Strain if desired. Makes 16 ounces of juice.

If you add one of these green drinks to your morning routine, you are sure to see improvements in your skin among many other things. One thing I will note is that I do not recommend only drinking liquids for more than one day, and I don’t think detoxing is good for weight loss. It is just a short fix, not a lifestyle change, and detoxing should be about getting rid of toxins that have built up in your body. Detox for health, not weight loss! Have you ever done a detox before?
