Veggies can be boring. While there are some people who love them in all their natural goodness, for the rest of us it takes a little something more to entice us. I’m one of those who needs an extra kick of flavor to truly like my veggies. These are 7 twists you can use to make your veggies taste great.

1. Slice a Lemon over Broccoli

Slice a Lemon over Broccoli This may be my very favorite way to eat a vegetable. We started experimenting with this on the grill this summer, but it can also be baked in the oven. Simply slice a lemon and place it over a dish of broccoli. Add about a teaspoon of olive oil and some salt. The taste of this veggie twist will have you coming back for seconds and thirds!

2. Roast Cauliflower with Tony Chachere’s Sprinkled on Top

Roast Cauliflower with Tony Chachere’s Sprinkled on Top Sometimes all veggies need is a bit of seasoning. Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning will certainly deliver; it’s a very savory, spicy mixture that’s sure to pep up your veggies or anything else you add it to. Clean and cut a head of cauliflower, sprinkle with Tony Chachere’s and roast around 375 degrees until done. If you’re drawn toward spicy foods then this one’s for you. Don’t be surprised if there aren’t any leftovers for tomorrow!

3. Add Almonds and Balsamic Vinaigrette to Your Green Beans

Add Almonds and Balsamic Vinaigrette to Your Green Beans Green beans are a veggie most of us like but even they can get a little old. Try taking them out of the saucepan and into the oven with this tip. Add a handful of almonds and about half a cup of balsamic vinaigrette to liven them up. This can pair nicely with steak, chicken or even your favorite fish. It’s a tangy side dish that's sure to please.

4. Bake Your Sweet Potatoes and Top with Your Favs

Bake Your Sweet Potatoes and Top with Your Favs This twist on veggies comes close to a dessert. Baked sweet potatoes are such a treat! Top them with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, marshmallows or even nuts. It’s all about what you love as a topping. You can serve them with a meal or eat them on their own to enjoy them for the treat they are.

As part of taking control over your health and wellbeing, it's important to pay attention to the amount of sugar you consume daily. Did you ever wonder how many grams of sugar are in a teaspoon? Understanding this can help you make healthier choices and avoid those sneaky sugars that add up throughout the day. No doubt, your body will thank you!

5. Make Roasted Carrots a Family Favorite

Make Roasted Carrots a Family Favorite Carrots aren’t something that everyone loves. But that may just be because they don’t look appealing. Changing the presentation and the flavor can make this a favorite way to enjoy this vitamin packed veggie. Clean them and cut them in half, lengthwise. Rub them with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with crushed sea salt. Roast until tender for a yummy veggie everyone enjoys.

6. Serve Potatoes Smashed Instead of Mashed

Serve Potatoes Smashed Instead of Mashed Do you ever get tired of plain old mashed potatoes? Me, too. This is a new spin on a classic veggie. Simply bake some small potatoes until they’re done then smash with a fork until they’re flat. Top with shredded cheddar, bacon bits and green onions and you have a veggie that closely reminds you of an appetizer.

7. Make This Yummy Veggie Trio

Make This Yummy Veggie Trio This is the perfect veggie dish to serve up with a steak or burgers. Slice up green peppers, onions and mushrooms. Add in some butter and Worcestershire sauce to punch up the taste. Simmer together until the veggies are tender. It’s a delectable dish you’re sure to make again and again.

These are some ways to add a twist to veggies. How do you make veggies tastier? I’d love to hear your ideas!
