By Eliza

There are so many burger topping combinations out there, giving you plenty of choices when they come off the grill. I know - I tend to stick to the tried and true lettuce, tomato and pickles, but branching out and sampling new things can broaden your palate and introduce you to incredible new flavor bursts that you’ll want to eat again and again. I’ve put together some of the tastiest burger topping combinations I could find. And, as always, I encourage you to let me know what you think as well as add to my list.

1. Goat Cheese and Roasted Red Peppers

Goat Cheese and Roasted Red Peppers The flavors of goat cheese and red peppers complement each other so well. And both on top of a burger is out of this world. The heat from the burger patty softens the goat cheese so it melds with the richness of the roasted red peppers and brings out the meaty, juiciness of your burger. A little salt and pepper and you have one of the best burger topping combinations out there.

2. Green Chilies and Jack Cheese

Green Chilies and Jack Cheese I love this combination and I frequently order it in restaurants. Green chilies add just the right amount of heat to a burger and the melted cheese adds flavor and helps hold the chilies in the bun. I also like to add a thick tomato slice to this combination. The flavors explode in your mouth and will only leave you wanting more.

3. Pineapple and Ham

Pineapple and Ham It tastes good on a pizza, so why not on a burger? This combination is perfect if you’re having a luau because the flavors are so tropical. You can use cold pineapple or grill it first for some extra deliciousness. Add a slather of barbecue sauce and you’re all set.

4. Cream Cheese and Cucumbers

Cream Cheese and Cucumbers A burger isn’t exactly health food, but it doesn’t have to be entirely bad for you either. Start with a lean grilled patty and spread some light cream cheese on your bun. Add thinly sliced cucumbers and some salt and pepper and you can almost feel virtuous about eating a burger. The flavors are mild and bring out the tastiness of the meat without drowning out its taste.

As part of taking control over your health and wellbeing, it's important to pay attention to the amount of sugar you consume daily. Did you ever wonder how many grams of sugar are in a teaspoon? Understanding this can help you make healthier choices and avoid those sneaky sugars that add up throughout the day. No doubt, your body will thank you!

5. Mozzarella Cheese and Pesto

Mozzarella Cheese and Pesto If you voted for Italian, but all your friends wanted burgers, all hope is not lost. Go ahead and join the crowd, but pile your burger with fresh mozzarella cheese and a scoop of pesto. You can have your Italian without having to eat alone. The flavors are great with a meat patty and are intense enough to make you feel like you are eating in Italy.

6. Hot Dogs and Ketchup

Hot Dogs and Ketchup I had this delicious wonder food for the first time in London. If you’re like me and can’t decide between a burger or a hot dog, have both! Slice the hot dog in half lengthwise, then in half again so you have four pieces. Pile them on your burger with a good squirt of ketchup and get ready to be in burger heaven.

7. Mushrooms and Olives

Mushrooms and Olives I love both mushrooms and olives and both taste good with a burger so they make a great combination too. Pile them on, then use a piece of melted cheese to hold everything in place. I like a combination of black and green olives, but you can go ahead and use any you like.

What’s your favorite burger topping combination? I like all of these, but I’d love to hear your favorites so I can try something new too. Which one will you try first?
