7 Delicious Recipes Using Soda to Try Now ...

By Jenny

Mountain Dew or Coca Cola may seem like odd ingredients for dinner and dessert items, but these recipes using soda are surprisingly delicious! I’m not a soda drinker, but I’ve become a soda EATER in the past several months. My love of recipes using soda began with Root Beer Pulled Pork and has escalated from there. If you want to start with an easy one, the Cola Brownies are purely amazing and only require two cheap ingredients!

Root Beer Pulled Pork

Root Beer Pulled Pork Whenever I suggest some recipes using soda to my friends and family, I always tell the story about the first time I made Root Beer Pulled Pork. I’ve made pulled pork in my slow cooker before, but with this new recipe I opted to make a giant batch of it. I had two sandwiches and stored the rest in two large Pyrex dishes in the fridge. I went out of town for two days and when I returned both of those dishes were completely empty. My husband had eaten ALL of the pulled pork in two days! He said it was the best he’s ever had, and I would have to agree, so give this one a try!

Ingredients:
2 LB Pork Tenderloin (or shoulder)
1 12 oz can Root Beer
1 18 oz Bottle BBQ Sauce
Garlic and/or Onion Powder (optional)

Directions:
Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker

Sprinkle some garlic powder and/or onion powder on top if you’d like.

In a bowl, mix the can of Root Beer and the bottle of BBQ Sauce together.

Cook on low for 6-7 hours.

Shred the pork and place it back in the slow cooker.

Cook 1 additional hour.

You can eat it as is or make it into a sandwich, either way it is supper yummy!

Ginger Ale Ribs

Ginger Ale Ribs Ahh, ribs! I don’t think there is any such thing as bad ribs. There are several ways to cook them and even more ways to marinate, glaze and flavor them. If you haven’t tried glazing yours with Ginger Ale, you’re really missing out!

Ingredients:
2 lemons
2 cups Heinz ketchup
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons ground chipotle chili pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
3 lbs baby back ribs
1 cup onion, sliced thin
2 garlic cloves, sliced
3 cups ginger ale
1 teaspoon cumin

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Juice one lemon and slice the other.

Combine lemon juice, ketchup, molasses, chipotle pepper, cumin, and oregano.

Measure out 1/2 cup of the sauce mixture and brush ribs all over. Place in a roasting pan.

Scatter lemon slices over ribs.

Sprinkle with onion and garlic.

Add ginger ale and cover tightly.

Cook 1-1/2 hours or until tender.

Cool ribs in liquid, about 25 minutes.

Preheat grill to medium-high and grease lightly.

Remove ribs from cooking liquid (discard liquid, lemons, and onion).

Place ribs on grill. Cook, turning and basting often with remaining sauce, 8 to 10 minutes or until well glazed.

Cola Brownies

Cola Brownies This is the easiest recipe on Earth! If you need a quick chocolate fix or a tasty treat when company is coming over, this should be your go-to recipe. It only requires two ingredients, which is amazing. Whenever brownie mix is on sale I stock up on it just so I know it’s always around in case I need to make a quick batch of Cola Brownies!

Ingredients:
Brownie Mix
1 Can of Cola

Directions:
Empty the brownie mix into a bowl and stir in the soda (It’s going to look runny… the first time I made them I thought there was no way it would firm up enough to make brownies but it did).

Pour into a lightly greased baking pan and bake per directions on the back of your brownie mix box.

Orange Creamsicle Cake

Orange Creamsicle Cake Who doesn’t love the orangy-vanilla taste of a creamsicle? Now you can get that incredibly delicious flavor in a super moist cake. The best part? Only three ingredients! This is so easy to make and even easier to eat, so you might want to make two! It can be insanely addicting!

Ingredients:
1 Box White Cake Mix
12 oz. Orange Soda
1 Tub Vanilla Icing

Directions:
Mix the powdered cake mix and orange soda together in a bowl.

Pour into a greased baking pan.

Bake according to the directions on the back of your cake mix box, but check it a little early. If a knife goes in and comes out clean, it is done.

Allow it to cool and frost with vanilla icing.

7-up Cake

7-up Cake If a perfect flavor exists, it is the lemony flavor of this cake! This is good for breakfast too. I know it sounds weird, but if you leave it unfrosted and toast a piece in the morning, it is to die for! If it’s a dessert only cake, frost or glaze it lightly. It doesn’t need much, it is super flavorful and sweet!

Ingredients:
1 Box Vanilla Cake Mix
1 large box Jell-O lemon pudding mix
4 eggs
3/4 cup Vegetable oil
3/4 cup 7-Up
Vanilla extract

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix and the box of lemon pudding mix.

Stir in the eggs and beat well.

Add the Vegetable Oil, 7-Up and Vanilla extract.

Once it is fully mixed, pour it into a lightly greased bundt pan.

Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 40-45 minutes.

Sprite Cobbler

Sprite Cobbler I was a little doubtful of this recipe at first, but having recently tried it, I have to say I am in love! The flavor is unbeatable and you can pick and choose what types of berries you use. I’ve made mine with all blueberries, all strawberries and mixed blueberries and raspberries. All of them were equally delicious, so play around and see what combinations you like best!

Ingredients:
24oz of Berries
1 Box Butter Cake Mix
1 1/2 Cans of Sprite

Directions:
Pour your berries into a minimally greased baking dish.

Sprinkle the entire box of cake mix over the top of the berries.

Carefully pour the Sprite over top of the cake mix, making sure it is all damp but DO NOT STIR! It is supposed to be bubbly.

Pop it in your 350 degree oven and bake for 50 minutes.

YUM!

Haha turkey :)

I'm going to have to try some of these!

That BBQ ribs with gingale looks dam delicious . Can't wait to tried it out!

If you drink soda and you eat some of these foods already... What makes it sound so awful? If the end result is good then so what? I get so annoyed by prissy girls that say eww to anything new or different. Be OPEN MINDED... There are poor people in the world without a scrap of food to eat and you're turning up your noses to food just because it sounds unusual.

All of those recipes sound awful

Mountain Dew in apple cobbler? Gross!!

Omg ew

I love coca cola chicken It's amazing!
