1. Tuna
Tuna salad is one of the best things to stuff in a pita pocket because it’s delicious, but it also contains protein, which you need for energy. Mix your tuna with a dab of mayo and mustard and toss in some sliced celery and diced onion. Hard-boiled egg increases the nutrient content. Fill your pita with the tuna and you’ll have a lunch that fills you up and revs you for the rest of the day.
2. Veggies
There’s nothing healthier than a pile of veggies at lunchtime and a pita pocket is the perfect receptacle for them. Fill your pita with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce and avocado for a delicious combination you’ll love. You can also add a dab of cream cheese or hummus to hold the veggies in place. This is actually one of my favorite lunches.
3. Fruit
I know it’s different, but if you choose a whole wheat pita, the fruit perfectly complements it. I like to fill my pita with orange segments, kiwi slices and strawberry chunks. A drizzle of honey glues the fruit inside the pita so it doesn’t fall out all over the place. A scoop of Greek yogurt is also great for flavor. Just eat it quick or the pita will get soggy.
4. Chicken Fajitas
Let’s be honest here – chicken fajitas aren’t exactly a one-handed meal. If you can’t pass them up, try using a pita instead of a tortilla. Stuff it with grilled chicken seasoned with fajita seasoning, sliced bell peppers and onions topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese and avocado. You’ll have a delicious and filling lunch that can’t be beat. Try steak or shrimp to shake things up.

I like to line the pita with a lettuce leaf to add a bit of crunch to your meal. A dash of hot sauce gives your egg salad some flair and makes lunch something to look forward to.

6. Cold Cuts and Cheese
Transform your pita pocket into a meal to rival any deli. Spread your pita with mayo or mustard and layer in sliced turkey, ham and sliced cheese. Add some lettuce, tomato and onion for crunch and nutrition. You can make this pita your own by replicating your favorite sub sandwich without having to worry that your fillings will slide out when you take a bite.
7. Bruschetta
Who says bruschetta is only for dinners out? I love it and it’s easy to make at home. Dice tomatoes and toss them with a dab of olive oil and some sliced basil. Season with salt and pepper and stuff the mixture inside your pita. Add some mozzarella cubes and a dash of balsamic vinegar for even more flavor.
