If you need some extra incentive to get your daily intake of H2O, why not try some of these healthy and tasty add-ins for water? I’ll be the first to admit that drinking plain water day after day can get pretty boring, so fun little add-ins for water can help make it more enjoyable. Aside from making water taste better, adding certain things to water can add nutrients and overall just make your beverage more interesting. Are you ready to try something new with your water? 1. Cucumber

Whenever I have water infused with cucumbers, it sort of takes my taste buds on a spa escape. The only places I ever have cucumber water are either at a spa or somewhere fancy, so it’s a simple way to give your water a flavor boost and is one of the fab add-ins for water. Adding cucumbers to your water also adds vitamins, cucurbitacins, electrolytes and silica, so it’s great for keeping your insides hydrated and your skin supple.

2. Herbs

This is one of the things to add in water that I haven’t tried, but am looking forward to trying whenever I get my hands on some fresh herbs. Herbs such as mint, basil and rosemary not only make your water so much nicer to look at, but also add an amazing aroma and hint of flavor to otherwise boring water. Try adding some fruit along with some herbs for even more flavor fun!

3. Lemon

Lemons are quite possibly the most common of the add-ins for water and there are a lot of reasons why. Lemons add a touch of tartness to water along with a healthy dose of vitamin C, potassium, antioxidants and pectin fiber. Drinking water with lemon can give you an energy and immune system boost, help keep hunger at bay and assist with digestion.

4. Ginger

Ginger is an incredible little root. Most times, ginger is added to tea, but it can be an add-in for water as well. Ginger is known for soothing our digestive system by helping quell nausea and aid in digestion, but it’s also a subtle way to give a little zing to your water. Just add a few slices and treat your senses!

5. Berries

I’m still on the fence about adding berries to my drinking water since I personally don’t think it does much besides look pretty, but that’s just me. Lots of people enjoy adding sliced strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries and find that it gives just the right amount of flavor to jazz up their water. You can try muddling the fruits for more flavor, too.

6. Cinnamon Stick

I love adding cinnamon to certain drinks and foods so I loved the idea of adding it to water. The only drawback to this is that you’ll need to add the cinnamon stick in your water and let it sit overnight for the most flavor, so it’s not something you can do in an instant. Nonetheless, it’s a sweet, spicy and earthy flavor that’s unexpected and surprisingly refreshing. You can always add some apple slices if you’re feeling a little adventurous.

7. Jalapeno Peppers

I realize that many people try to avoid jalapeno peppers at all costs so suggesting it as an add-in for water is a bit of a stretch, but it’s something new to try. Adding whole jalapeno peppers to ice water is refreshing, a tad spicy and totally unexpected. You’re adding whole peppers so it won’t be as powerful as one might imagine. Add the peppers and let it sit for at least an hour in the fridge before you sip.

8. Orange Peel

By now you might be thinking that this list of add-ins is getting more bizarre by the minute, but believe me, it’s good! A popular use of orange peel is to add it to hot water or tea, but adding it to ice water is excellent as well. Orange peels can add a slight citrus-y flavor to water and it’s cheap and super easy. Just make sure you thoroughly wash the peel as with all the fruits before you use it.

9. Vanilla Bean

The last thing that I suggest adding to your drinking water takes a bit of preparation, but it’s quite unique and delicious. All you need is a vanilla bean and liquid Stevia. Split and half your vanilla bean, add 2 cups of filtered water and bring it to a boil on the stovetop. Once it comes to a boil, turn off the heat and let it sit for about an hour. Next, add 10 drops of liquid Stevia along with 6 more cups of filtered water into a pitcher. Then, pour it up, add some ice and enjoy!
