Cheddar and Onion Smashed Burgers

Cheddar and Onion Smashed Burgers I think onions are the perfect accompaniment for a grilled burger and this recipe doesn’t disappoint. The cheddar adds just a touch of saltiness and the pickles lend a satisfying crunch. You’ll love this one so much it will be hard to eat just one.

Ingredients:

16 thin bread and butter pickle slices, patted dry
4 potato buns, buttered and toasted
1 ¼ pounds ground beef chuck
Salt and pepper
2 small onions, sliced paper thin
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced

Directions:

Heat a cast-iron griddle over high heat until very hot. Place the pickles on the bottom buns. Form the meat into 4 balls and cook them on the griddle for about 30 seconds. Flatten each ball into a patty and season to taste with salt and pepper. Sear the patties for about 2 minutes, then press a handful of onions into each. Flip the burgers, top with cheese and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Cover and cook 1 more minute. Serve the burgers on the buns.

Hi! Next time maybe you can include a veggie or chicken burger recipe for people who don't eat beef . Thanks :)

Eliza, which burger on the list is your cover picture? The ooey gooey cheddar cheese looking one. Through my frustration I couldn't seem to find it or figure out where it went. Surely its not poor tactics of clickbate for your article. Otherwise good list but left disappointed.
