7 Nut Butters to Tantalize Your Taste Buds and Keep You Healthy ...

There are so many more nut butters out there than just peanut butter. While I do love this old classic, it’s fun to try other varieties as well. Nuts are a great source of protein and heart healthy fats, so including them in your diet is an easy way to stay healthy and help prevent heart problems. Variety optimizes this, so try out as many nut butters as possible for the most benefits.

Almond Butter

Almond Butter If you love peanut butter, almond butter is a great alternative. This is one of the nut butters with a high amount of heart healthy fats. Use it to make a sandwich by spreading a thin smear on your favorite bread and topping it with jelly or jam. Almonds have a very distinct flavor, so this type of nut butter has a great taste that goes a long way, which means you can use less of it, saving yourself fat and calories at the same time.

Cashew Butter

Cashew Butter I love cashews, so cashew butter is a good choice for me. It works great as an alternative for peanuts in sauce for egg rolls and noodles. Simply combine it with soy sauce and rice vinegar. Cashew butter also tastes great with bananas and makes a healthy and delicious post workout snack.

Sunflower Seed Butter

Sunflower Seed Butter OK, technically this one is a seed, rather than a nut, but it’s perfect if you have tree nut allergies. You can still enjoy a creamy, nutty spread without the risk of an allergic reaction. Use sunflower seed butter to make a sandwich or enjoy it as a yummy dip for strawberries. Most natural food stores sell this type of butter, so it isn’t too hard to find, but your taste buds will thank you.

Hazelnut Butter

Hazelnut Butter I love the taste of hazelnut in my hot chocolate, so it makes sense to use its butter to make sweet treats with. Use it in place of peanut butter in cookies, brownies or rice krispie treats. You can’t go wrong when you mix it with chocolate syrup and drizzle it over ice cream or use it as a dip for pineapple, strawberries, marshmallows and pretzel rods. It’s kind of like a glamorous chocolate fountain.

Pistachio Butter

Pistachio Butter Pistachios have a unique flavor that you won’t find in other nut butters. It’s not as readily available as other varieties, but if you can find it, you’re in for a treat. It’s smooth, creamy texture makes it the perfect dip for fruit slices next time you have people to impress at a party or work function. Try it on crackers for a yummy snack.

Walnut Butter

Walnut Butter Walnuts are the epitome of nuttiness. They sort of melt in your mouth while at the same time offering up a nice crunch. Walnut butter is great for slathering on apple slices for a snack, but it also tastes good on a sandwich and makes a yummy substitute for peanut butter in baked treats.

Soy Butter

Soy Butter Soy butter joins the ranks of many other items made from soy. It’s good for you, but it’s also ideal if you have peanut or other nut allergies. Of course, if you’re allergic to soy, stay far away from this one. Soy beans are a complete protein, which makes soy butter a healthy choice if you’re a vegetarian. Use soy butter on sandwiches, in dips or when you make your favorite nutty dessert.

When you have kids, you tend to subsist on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. If you’re like me, that gets old really fast. Switching things up means less boredom and new and tasty foods on my plate. Which one are you going to buy next time you’re at the store?
