7 Healthy Snacks to Take to the Movies with You ...

By Heather

I always like to have healthy snacks to take to the movies so I don’t get hungry or feel left out when everyone else is noshing on Whoppers and buttered popcorn. It’s likely most of you pack some type of snack when you go to the gym or out shopping, so why not when you go to the movies too? Typical movie snacks not only wreck your diet but cause bloating and all sorts of digestive upset from the high amounts of fat, sugar, and salt. Choose a better option with some of these healthy snacks to take to the movies that are affordable and will fit into any handbag.

100 Calorie Packs of Almonds

100 Calorie Packs of Almonds Almonds are one of the best healthy snacks to take to the movies because they’re rich in protein, fiber, and magnesium which all help fill you up and satisfy you. Plus, almonds are both crunchy and sweet so they’re perfect for munching on in place of the popcorn or M&M’s. I like the 100 calorie packs because they keep me from eating a whole large bag, which is easy to do when you’re watching a great film in the dark!

One or Two Ounces of Pure Dark Chocolate

One or Two Ounces of Pure Dark Chocolate Chocolate is a great option so long as you choose a dark chocolate bar with at least 88% cacao content. Break off one or two squares and toss it in a Ziploc baggie. This makes the perfect portable snack for under 200 calories and it’s easy to stop after a couple bites since it’s especially satisfying.

3

Baby Carrots

Baby Carrots Baby carrots will keep out of the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours. Pack a container or baggie with some, toss them in your bag, and munch on these sweet, crunchy veggies instead of the nachos or popcorn.

4

ThinkThin Protein Bars

ThinkThin Protein Bars I’m a huge fan of thinkThin protein bars, which are some of the most filling protein bars I’ve ever had. They’re delicious, sugar-free, non-GMO, high in lean protein, contain no trans fats, and they’re low-carb and best of all, gluten-free. Try the Chocolate Espresso or Peanut Butter flavors and you’ll see what I mean!

5

Apple Slices

Apple Slices Apples are rich in water, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and are incredibly satisfying. If you really want to get creative, bring a to-go pack of nut butter and a container to dip them in too!

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Organic Popcorn

Organic Popcorn If you can’t imagine going to the movies without having popcorn, then don’t - just bring your own! Make a bag at home before you go and when you buy your popcorn, make sure to choose an organic brand, preferably one that’s 94% fat-free to avoid excess oil or butter. Organic popcorn contains no GMOs or harmful chemicals found in most all non-organic corn products out there.

A Healthy Homemade Treat

A Healthy Homemade Treat From raw truffles, to low-carb protein bars, I’ve got a laundry list of healthy snacks I keep on hand for on-the-go outings and you should do the same! These are so good and so easy to make!

Don’t worry, as long as you don’t walk in parading your goodies for everyone to see, you won’t get in trouble bringing your own snacks to the movies. Do you bring your own healthy snacks to the movies?

Wish I could being snacks. I live in So. Cal, and they search purses for food. (you can bring baby food)

Ditto on the protein bars. Not too sure about munching on carrots at a theatre...crunch..crunch..crunch.
