There’s nothing better than chic cocktails and some girlie gossip when you’re hanging out with your friends – it just can’t be beaten! On a recent trip to Edinburgh I discovered some delicious and chic cocktails, which I thought I would share with you; from classic favorites to the more unusual, they’re all here and waiting for you to try!

Mistress Sage

Mistress Sage Be seduced with this stunning pink cocktail made with fresh sage leaves, strawberry and champagne preserve, Stolichnaya vodka, fresh lemon, crème de fraise and sugar. Served in a martini glass, this pink drink is sure to make the boys wink! Oh, and it tastes great too – it’s one of my favorite chic cocktails.

French 75

French 75 Channel your inner Parisian with this stylish cocktail from 1915. A simple blend of Tanqueray gin, fresh lemon and sugar cane syrup is topped off with Veuve Clicquot champagne for some added sparkle, and we all know that no girlie lunch is complete without some fizz!

3

Tequila and Lime Cobbler

Tequila and Lime Cobbler It might be raining outside, but brighten up your day with this Mexican inspired cocktail – its fruity freshness makes it the perfect drink for lunch with the girls. Tapatio tequila, sherry and sugar is finished with zesty fresh lime and juicy orange chunks; it’s sunshine in a glass!

4

Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan If it was good enough for Carrie Bradshaw and the Sex and the City girls then it’s good enough for me! I recently had the most gorgeous Cosmopolitan at a little bar in Edinburgh called ‘Tigerlily’ – their blend of Absolut Citron vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice and fresh lime juice was so delicious that I might have indulged in more than one! This is a classic cocktail served in a martini glass, and it’s the perfect girlie lunch date drink!

5

Coconut and Lychee Daiquiri

Coconut and Lychee Daiquiri We’ve all had strawberry and raspberry daiquiris, so I was delighted to see something a little different on a cocktail menu recently. The coconut and lychee daiquiri offers a taste of the exotic, with Brugal Blanco rum, lychee liqueur and fresh lime juice. Coconut extract and honey add a little sweetness. This has become one of my favorite drinks, although it’s perhaps best saved for hot, summer days!

Grey Goose Le Fizz

Grey Goose Le Fizz Sophisticated ladies wouldn’t be seen dead without a champagne glass in hand, so what better cocktail for your lunch with the girls than the Grey Goose Le Fizz? It’s very British, darling, with its blend of elderflower cordial, Grey Goose vodka, Godet Paradise pear cognac and lime juice, topped off with a refreshing hit of soda for a fruit kick that will knock your socks off! I love the blend of elderflower and pear, and it’s a really vibrant, fruity cocktail that’s also elegant and chic – perfect for ladies who lunch!

7

Seafarer Sour

Seafarer Sour Something a bit more rugged now, and if you’re craving a drink that’s a little less girlie, then this will be right up your street! The Seafarer Sour combines Cutty Sark whisky and Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey with Kraken Spiced Rum, King's Ginger, lime juice, ginger ale and aromatic bitters. It’s a deep, spicy, sweet cocktail that will warm you up from the inside, and it’s a personal favorite of mine. This cocktail is really great for those winter days when you’ve travelled to meet your friends and it’s so cold you can’t feel your own fingers!

So there you have it – if this list of 7 cocktails doesn’t make you want to go straight out and celebrate with your friends then I don’t know what will! There are some really cool flavor combinations out there, and I can think of plenty of delicious cocktails that haven’t made it onto my list – I love White Russians, but they’re a better drink for evenings, I always think! I’d love to hear about some of your favorite or unusual cocktails, so why not share them with me?

Do they get you sloshed ?

They all sound a bit calorific. If I drank any of these I'd have to skip lunch, then where would I be! Must try it.

Nice

I love a cocktail my flatmate once made for me! Knowing my love of fireball whiskey and cherries. She decided to take my vanilla coke. And add a little twist. I call it Cherry On Fire. It's Vanilla Coke, two maraschino cherries and a dash of the cherry juice, with some fireball whiskey! It's something that will get you into the holiday spirit. =>
